The rug has a nice pile, although the wool does shed quite a bit; will need many vacuums before it stops shedding. Bought for daughters college dorm room to be a little different from the ordinary solid rug. The pattern is lovely, and gives the room a designer look. However, what looks white is a more ivory color design but the black is a nice black and not grayish.

RECOMMENDED: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
