Rugs USA on ABC's Extreme Makover Home Edition

Rugs USA's products have been mentioned on many Extreme Makeover Home Edition episodes.

Our thick and plush Cotton Jersey shags are all the rage these days! The funky look and versatile nature of their unique supple texture has even attracted the professional decorators on ABC’s hit weekly program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The television show designers decided to incorporate one of our brightly colored fun shags into a fabulous, ice cream parlor styled bedroom! A spectacular idea, as children will love the soft and comfortable feel of these shag rugs.

You can read more about the family here.

Carpet Tiles and Carpet Squares

Late night parties, unauthorized extended “sleepovers”, smoking in a non-smoking apartment… Sometimes, landlords can be very forgiving. Most times, they’re just not there to forgive anything. But once in a while, there’ll be a landlord who can’t even be appeased with one month’s deposit permanently deposited with them.

Like when a bald patch in the carpet is involved. I had a close shave once, burnt a hole with my cigarette. Luckily I managed to conceal it with a little bit of creative trimming. If I had been caught, this small hole in the carpet could mean a big hole in my pocket. But not if the landlord had installed carpet tiles.

Carpet tiles are bite-size pieces of carpet that fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. With carpet tiles, you can replace disaster areas without going through the trouble of re-carpeting the entire floor. And if you can afford at least $2.925 per carpet tile, why not take a permanent vacation from cleaning up?

Carpet tiles come in a variety of colors. Get a few different shades and create a unique floor pattern. They also come non-adhesive. So when you’re ready to look down at a new floor, just switch the tiles around. Also, there’re no obvious edge-lines marking one tile from another when you put same-colored tiles together. They fit seamlessly.

Even for tenants, carpet tiles are pretty useful. Install them wherever the landlord has not – the kitchen, the bathroom, etc. What’s more, you can cut them up anyway you want. Not because they’re yours to destroy, but because you can customize the shape and size to suit your décor.

Don’t get stuck with the same floor for as long as you live in an apartment. Personalize it with your own brand of creativity. Over and over again.

Flokati Retro Shag Rugs

I can’t sleep at night. One reason could be that I sleep in my office during the day. Hee hee. My friend theorizes that it’s because I take my work to bed. When you work from your bed, your mind regards it as a place of stress and it won’t let you sleep without a fight.

Fact is, too much goes on in my bed. I watch tv from my bed, eat from my bed… I even sleep with my laptop. To fall asleep, I sometimes count sheep. It’s useless but I’m desperate.

The sheep could prove a lot more useful if you slept with it. Well, just the wool will do. In other words, a Flokati rug. Seems Alexander the Great can’t get his night’s rest without Flokati. He used it to make his bedroom-slash-tent, and probably wore it for his PJs.

5th century Greeks are credited for the “invention” of Flokati rugs. It’s hand-woven (always a sign of excellent workmanship and durability) in Greece from 100% wool. And like a true pet, you can expect it to shed. I’m not kidding.

The Flokati rug is probably one of the most delicate rugs around. But unless you’re intending every once in a while, to take it out for a spin in your car or washing machine, pfff. Just be sure to vacuum it at the lowest settings and it’ll survive.

There’re a few types of Flokati rugs available at RugsUSA.com. The main differences lay in the plush factor – the thicker the density and the taller the wool fiber, the more comfy the rug. And the more $$$.

Here’s a tip to make it worth the $$$ – lay larger-sized Flokati rug on top of your bedspread like Alexander probably did. It’s soft and perhaps warm enough to save you a few bucks on the a/c come wintertime.
