It's a shiny shag material as opposed to a cotton-like or fluffy shag. I originally wanted another color that was sold out and so we got the cream color. It's perfect for our dark hardwoods and furniture in the bedroom.

RECOMMENDED: No, I would not recommend this to a friend.The color of this rug is beautiful and exactly what I was looking for; however I didn't care for the feel of the long twisted shag. It was a bit rough and thin in pile. It is also dry clean only. Since I bought the small size to try the color, I'm keeping for an accent rug, but don't think it would hold up under normal wear and tear.

We thought it was blue and it was even called Steel Blue so we were surprised and not pleased when it arrived silver. There was no hint of blue whatsoever! It could have been perfect. They need to rename that color! Otherwise it looked like a decent rug, though we didn't even unroll it.
