These collectibles are created and inspired by art movements, ancient cultures, and architecture throughout the world. This rug is based on French Savonerie designs, found both in architecture and artwork in palaces throughout France during the reign of Louis the 16th. This design is representative of the Savonerie type of motifs, which are derived from the Aubusson style of design. This style consists of a center medallion, with floral motifs in the four corners and an elaborate floral border. Savonerie mimics this style, but is much more elaborate in its detail. This collection is made in China.
