When the jimuta dawn rug arrived, I have to say I was disappointed at the color/pattern when I opened it. Up close it's unimpressive, and looks somewhat inexpensive. But then you roll it out, and it's gorgeous! The pattern reveals itself from a distance, and it's so unique in it's vintage appearance. I wasn't familiar with "overdyed", and assumed it was going to be an applied/stamped pattern die that was then washed off to give the appearance of age. However, the rugs color and pattern come from the individual colors of the woven wool yarns, and thee aged look comes from the consistent weave of white yarn woven through the entire pattern. The rug is beautifully romantic in my charcoal/white/gray/ivory monochromatic master bedroom with dark hand scraped walnut wood floors and natural linen drapes.
