Monochrome Rugs: Your Home in Black and White

January 11, 2023 by Erica Smith

It’s true—anywhere you look, from Pinterest to Insta to your favorite home reno show, monochrome is having a moment. And it’s our opinion that while seeing the world in black and white is not always an easy philosophy of life, it’s an amazing philosophy of home décor.

What makes the black, white, and shades-of-gray palette so enchanting is that it can be light and moody at the same time; statement-making, yet quiet; trendy, yet timeless. Let’s take a look at a few key ways in which you can use this palette to bring a fresh perspective to your space.

It’s a Mod, Mod World

Black-and-white geometric patterning is a hallmark of the Modern look, adding a touch of fun and energy to any space. Placing a geometric rug in your home’s entryway is a terrific way to add a welcoming feel.

Sleek Contemporary

The resurgence of the Contemporary look is one we’re really excited about—it was definitely time for a revisit since the days of the (original) Terminator. The Contemporary vibe is rendered in monochrome as organic and enchanting, often adding a slight touch of futurism that lights up any room.

Traditional Feels

Black, white, and gray can be deployed as a gorgeous anchor of the room, especially when it’s a bold twist on traditional Persian motifs. Try this in your living room or bedroom for a look that’s dramatic and delightful!

Beautiful Boho

Black and white rugs are key when you’re craving boho shags in the Moroccan style. The softness of the pile, plus the elegance of the organic designs, truly go with everything. This centuries-old style always seems to look fresh.
