You know that excited feeling you get when you see a room, fall in love with it, and must know absolutely every single thing about it? (We know we can’t be the only ones!) This notion is the ethos behind our series, Anatomy of a Room, where we touch base with the decorators behind some of our favorite spaces and have them break down every design decision and detail.
This round, we’ve asked Gabriella Lelond of @theeverydayhome to show us around the adorable nursery she designed for her son Myles—which is seriously one of the cutest spaces we’ve laid our eyes on. Featuring an incredible cloudy sky mural, tons of sweet toys and knickknacks, a mix of textures and materials, and our Textured Tasseled rug, it’s a room that has heart and charm at every single turn. Keep reading and scrolling to see how it all came together!

Tell us about your nursery and what look and feel you were going for!
I wanted the nursery to feel a few ways—calming, cozy, playful, and like something our new baby could grow into. We went with a gender-neutral palette since I wasn’t finding out the baby’s gender before their arrival.

Did you have to do any major renovations or projects for the nursery?
We did! We moved into our home in July of 2020. In the nursery we have almost changed everything since then. We ripped out the carpet and completely updated the paint, floors, baseboards, window coverings and of course, decor!

What was the space previously?
The nursery was actually our temporary bedroom as we renovated our primary bedroom. We were knee-high in renovations when I found out I was expecting, so we finished our primary bedroom so we could move into it and get started on pulling a nursery together.

Tell us about that amazing cloudy wall mural!
The cloud wallpaper is from Anewall and it sets the entire tone for the nursery. I knew I wanted something that evoked a calm feeling and was gender neutral. When I saw the cloud mural I knew it was the right one right away!

What was your timeline like to decorate the nursery? Did you have any hiccups while decorating?
Since we were tackling renovations at the time, I wasn’t able to get into the nursery space until three months before my due date. Thankfully due to nesting mode I was able to finish the space just two weeks before the baby came!
How did you choose the rug for the nursery, and what made it the right pick for the space?
I was looking for a rug with lots of texture to help make the space feel warm and cozy. The Textured Tasseled rug had the perfect amount of texture, plus beautiful light hints of blue and taupe which pulled tones from the wallpaper and other accents in the room. It’s such a gorgeous rug and it really helped complete the entire space.

What is your favorite moment in the space?
I love the view/corner of the room that you see from the doorway. You almost get a bit of everything in this view. Your eye is drawn from the delicate mobile above the crib down to the cozy rug below. It feels serene right away, which is exactly what I was hoping for!
