Welcome to the next installment of our Home Tour series, where we step inside the spaces of some of our favorite design-world friends to chat all things decor and learn how they’ve turned their house into a home.
This week, we’re catching up with Lidia Salazar of @everyday_home, whose boho-chic Phoenix-area house is one we can’t get enough of! Lidia, her husband, and two pups Waffles and Zoey have lived in the home for just over three years, and we love how each room and every detail are so thoughtfully curated. We’ll let Lidia tell you all about it in our Q&A below—take it away, Lidia!

Tell us about your style! How would you describe the look of your home and your aesthetic?
My style is eclectic but definitely leans towards a mix of bohemian and Scandinavian. I love incorporating neutral colors, natural elements and an abundance of texture in my spaces.

What has the process been like designing your space, and making your house feel like a home?
Designing our home has been a slow but very rewarding process. Similar to most, staying within our budget has been challenging and has kept us from moving along the design process too quickly. We’ve been working on our home for over three years and still have so much more to do!
What is your most treasured item in your home?
Old family pictures are my most treasured items for sure!

As a dog owner, did you make any decor decisions with them in mind? Do you have any tips for pet owners when it comes to interiors?
We consider our dogs to be a part of our family and have definitely made specific decor decisions because of them. We knew we wanted a low-profile bed to ensure our small dogs would be able to jump on and off the bed without hurting themselves. We also went with a king-sized bed to make sure we could all sleep in it comfortably! My advice for pet owners would be to buy a portable upholstery/carpet cleaner. It will offer so much peace of mind and end up paying for itself faster than you can imagine! Also, make an effort to find design-friendly pet beds, bowls, and other necessities.

Let’s talk projects! What DIYs have done in your home? What’s next on your to-do list?
Our house was built in the late 80s and the easiest, most affordable way to update it has been with a fresh coat of paint and changing out the light fixtures. Up next, I’m looking forward to giving the powder room a mini makeover by changing out the mirror and hardware for more modern pieces.

We have to ask about your rugs! What rugs do you have from Rugs USA, and what made them the perfect fit for your space?
I’m so in love with the rust Tribal Medallion rug that I actually have two of them, one in my family room and the other in my bedroom! I find that the colors in it are so lovely and subtly change with the lighting throughout the day. I also have the gray Moroccan Trellis rug in my office and find it’s the perfect neutral rug for any space!

Do you have any design tips/ideas/tricks you’ve discovered while decorating that you’re willing to spill?
If a space is feeling a little flat, add an element of nature and you’ll be surprised at the difference it can make. This element of nature can be anything from a piece of driftwood, a vase filled with dried florals or branches, plants, fresh flowers… the options are endless!

Where do you look for design inspiration?
In pre-Covid days, travel was a huge source of inspiration. Currently, most of my inspiration comes from Instagram or Pinterest. I’m a big fan of @thelifestyledco, a local design firm and home decor shop. Their designs are beautiful and their stores are so well curated and always inspire me.

What do you love most about your home?
I love that although I’ve worked hard to make it look its best, it’s also incredibly comfortable for my family and I to enjoy!
