It’s time to break out the pumpkins, cobwebs, skeletons, and all sorts of spooky (but not too scary!) delights and celebrate the fun, candy-filled holiday that is Halloween. Ready to create your own version of a haunted house? Check out these simple and clever Halloween decor ideas to have your spookiest, chicest season yet!

Mysteriously Floating Witch Hats
Make that trick-or-treat candy feel even sweeter by outfitting your front porch with a host of magical floating witch hats! This Halloween decor DIY is super easy, and only requires a handful of materials to pull off. Learn how to do it here!

A Fabulous, Fall-Feeling Rug
Our personal favorite way to up the festive factor for the season? With a fall- and Halloween-inspired backdrop, of course! We love the cozy, rust-colored tones in our Banded Shag rug shown above. But we also think our Vintage Autumn rug, Autumn Crosses rug, Autumn Floral rug, Fading Herati Medallion rug, and Native Collage rug would all make great picks, too!

A Haunting Hoard of Bats
We’re seeing this Halloween decor trend everywhere, and are absolutely loving it! Add cutout bats to any area in your home—a living room wall as seen above, the front porch, a kids room—to up the spooky factor in a fun, easy way. You can find cutout bats at most craft stores, or you can make a template of your own and have the kids help you cut them out!

Spooky Spiders
Spiders in the house? No thanks! Luckily, these creepy crawlers are fake, and they make a fun (if startling!) addition to kids’ rooms and front porches. Snag a few in different sizes from your local craft store and place on the walls and floor to create a frighteningly festive scene.

Magical Moons and Stars
Not all Halloween decor has to be straight-up scary! Lean into the mystical, magical side of the holiday with moon and star motifs. We especially love the sweet garland hanging in the playroom above (and of course, that small hoard of bats, too!).

A Covering of Cobwebs
Is your Halloween decor look really complete if it doesn’t have cobwebs? Set up a chic fireplace scene by draping a covering of cobwebs over the mantel. We also love the idea of adding cobwebs to dining decor, on top of coffee tables… and pretty much everywhere else! Bring in one of your spider friends from above for an extra-authentic touch.

Pretty Scary (and Cute!) Pillows
Spookiest playroom ever! We love the idea of decking out your kids’ area to the nines with seasonal decor. This space has all our favorite Halloween decor ideas: spiders on the walls, pumpkin and jack-o’-lantern accents, and a chic collection of Halloween-themed pillows. Pile on all your favorites for extra comfort and extra-spooky style.

A Picking of Pumpkins
If you can’t do Halloween decor without cobwebs, then you definitely can’t do it without pumpkins! We’re proponents of putting pumpkins everywhere. Piled up on the porch, accenting the table as seen above, in the windowsill… everywhere! Whether real, faux, or fashioned out of a fun material like straw, you can’t lose when you choose pumpkins for Halloween and fall decor.

A Seriously Chic Skeleton
No, they’re not just for anatomy class! Grab a skeleton and have some fun with it. Dress it up with a hat or fun outfit, place it on a rocking chair in the porch with a big bowl of candy, set it up in the dining room as a spooky dinner guest. We also suspect your kids will love giving it a name.
