Here’s Why You Should Consider Decorating with Orange Rugs

September 23, 2021 by Elizabeth Wieck

At first thought, orange may seem like an unlikely color to use as a rug (and therefore, a major component!) in your space. The bold, fiery hue isn’t typically top-of-mind for decorating, especially when compared to popular colors like blue, red, and green. But take a look at the striking spaces below, and we think you might be convinced to try out orange rugs in your home! Keep scrolling to see all the inspo—and be prepared to add an orange rug to your cart!

Super-Saturated and Chic

We can’t help but fall head-over-heels for all this orange! Try making a bold, saturated statement with one of our orange rugs—if you’re a lover of color, we promise you won’t regret making the move. Consider pairing your rug with a few furnishings in contrasting hues for an extra pop.

A Lovely, Light-Washed Look

Something more subdued more your style? Don’t fret—orange rugs can still be for you! Just take a look at the peach palette of our Oriental Classic rug above. Its lighter hues make it feel like a neutral, which helps pull together all the other soft hues and metallic finishes in the space.

An Orange Take on Traditional

One of our favorite things about decorating with orange rugs is how well they lend themselves to the traditional aesthetic. This is in part because they pair so well with classic-leaning furnishings, like the leather sofa and distressed wood coffee table seen above.

As Just an Accent

Not ready to take a statement-making plunge into orange rugs, but love the unexpected pop of color the hue provides? We’ve got you! Styles that boast just a touch of orange will still add plenty of uniqueness and warmth to your space, as evidenced by our Vintage Autumn rug shown above.

Paired with Blue

Let’s talk color theory! If you take a look at the color wheel, you’ll notice that blue and orange lie across from each other. This means they’re complementary colors, and that they’ll pair beautifully together in home decor! Many of our orange rugs have various shades of blue baked into their color scheme—but we love the idea of incorporating blues throughout the furnishings and accessories in a space, too.

Rich and Rusty

Halfway between red and orange, deep rust-colored rugs are an undeniable favorite of ours. The striking hue adds the most beautiful hit of richness and depth to a room, and pairs beautifully with a number of other color palettes. Just check out how amazing it looks with the emerald-accented walls above!

Beautifully Boho

With their warmth and character-filled layers, we’ll never tired of bohemian-inspired spaces. And because boho rooms typically have such warm vibes and shades, it means orange rugs are the perfect pick. Try a traditional style (like our Stellar Medallion Washable rug above) or a something geometric and Moroccan-inspired to complete your boho look.
