Shedding is normal for wool and natural fiber rugs at first, and will decrease over time with proper care.
Vacuum using a low or upholstery setting. Raise the beater bar and rotating brush of your vacuum—too much friction may cause damage.
Don't pull loose fibers—trim them down to the surface of the rug.
Pair your rug with a rug pad. Sweep the floor underneath them regularly.
If your rug is a shag: Shake it out periodically. Raise the beater bar and brush roller of your vacuum to the highest setting possible, then flip the rug over and vacuum the reverse side.
