A Layering Piece
“A rug to layer a door mat with.”
If you know us, you know we love layering rugs! And creating a layered look at your entryway is a great way to give your space an extra jolt of character to welcome guests as they enter your home. Here’s what we’re thinking!
If your doormat is going to be placed outside, we have a ton of amazing outdoor rugs that will work great underneath. Our favorites are the Venetian Pinstripes Indoor/Outdoor rug (seen above), Solid Braided Indoor/Outdoor rug, Adelaide Harlequin Indoor/Outdoor rug, and Avery Banded Textured Indoor-Outdoor rug.
If your layered doormat look is going to be inside, take a look at our Jute Braided rug, Striped Jute rug, Wool Trellis Flatweave rug, Abstract Jute-Blend rug, and Herringbone Cotton Flatwoven rug. All of these are flatwoven styles that will create a nice flat surface underneath your doormat.

A Medley of Neutrals
“A rug that ties in all neutral colors—beige, white, gray, etc.”
We’re always here for a beautiful neutral moment! If you’re wanting a rug that incorporates a multitude of neutrals—a look that will add beautiful depth to your space—here’s what you should check out.
If you want a rug inspired by traditional motifs, take a look at our Floral Ornament rug in ivory (shown above), Melange Tiles rug in any color, and Crystalline Medallion Washable rug.
For a more modern approach, we love our Modern Striped Wool rug, Shaggy Barbed Medallion Tassel rug, and Ruth Washable Splatter rug.

A Non-Jute Base Layer
“Base layering options other than jute.”
When you think about layering rugs, you usually think of using a jute rug as the bottom layer. But if that’s not your look, then you have a ton of other options to use instead!
In general, we recommend using styles with a flat pile (flatwoven or braided rugs) or those with a very low pile as the bottom layer so the top rug doesn’t move around. We also recommend using rugs with an all-over pattern instead of those that have a centered or medallion pattern, which would be covered by the rug on top.
Now let’s get into some suggestions!
If you’re looking for a textured, neutral moment, take a look at our Solid Braided Indoor/Outdoor rug, Veronica Wool Braided rug (shown above), and the Subtle Striped Flatweave With Fringes rug.
If pattern and color is what you’re after, we suggest our Paddle rug, Awning Striped Flatweave Tassel rug, and the Printed Floral Flatweave rug.

A Bold Yet Classic Pick
“I want a rug that’s bold and bright but still versatile and classic.”
There’s nothing like a traditional-inspired rug to bring in all the character and classic vibes to your space! If you’re wanting color, here are some of our favorite picks.
Going for warm tones? Take a look at our Flourishing Medallion rug, Clover Medallion Tassel rug (shown above), Fading Floral Medallion rug, and Sabine Fringe rug.
If cool tones are more in line with your space, check out our Distressed Persian rug in blue, Faded Star Petal Emblem rug, Tasseled Medallion rug in light blue, and Wool Diamond rug in blue.
