The colors themselves aren't what I would call vibrant, but the rug is far from dark. Despite its colors, the rug is very light. So if you are at all concerned about stains, perhaps this isn't the right rug for you. Also, the weave of the rug varies. The flower designs(including the ivory within it) has a more tight/rough feel, and the ivory background is very plush feeling. Yes it sheds, a couple vaccums later it shouldn't be bad. Definitely buy a pad. A thick one would add even more cushion to it. Great well made rug. Awesome price. That is, if you snatched it up during a special.
