Derived from a 17th-century Italian fabric document, the surprisingly modern pattern in Strolling Garden replicates outlined laid work called couching. In the original archival textile, this technique involves cording applied to satin cloth; in this modern version, viscose yarns are used to outline the same lustrous pattern against Strolling Garden's cut-pile background of New Zealand wool.
